Agile Coach

We are looking for an exceptional Agile Coach to join our team of highly talented computer scientists and software engineers. You will be applying your knowledge of agile methods to guide our teams into ways of working that maximise effectiveness and enjoyment. As our first Agile Coach, you will also have the chance to help us further define the role.

Your colleagues will be an international, world-class team of engineers and researchers from a variety of different backgrounds and experiences. Currently we are organised into eleven small, agile teams. At times you will be working intensively with one or two teams to strengthen communication and collaboration. At other times you will be advising teams of experienced agile practitioners on ways to fine-tune their processes.

As well as coaching teams, you can catch up with other team members over a delicious breakfast or free Friday lunch, take a break with a quick chess match or join a multi-player game on one of our many consoles. Not energetic enough? Use your free membership at the local gym, or take a walk for inspiration at the nearby Cambridge botanic gardens.

Your responsibilities:

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within teams
  • Identify when a team will benefit from co-ordination with another team, encouraging appropriate and timely interaction
  • Make work and achievements visible
  • Encourage teams to make the best use of retrospectives and other agile ceremonies
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops as required
  • Help teams to identify and resolve impediments
  • Collaborate with our Release Managers and other engineering leaders in working towards frequent releases of high-quality products
  • Uphold the working agreements of the team and the company
  • Advocate and explain agile and lean principles

Essential qualifications:

  • Experience as an Agile Coach or ScrumMaster
  • Experience working in a commercial software organisation
  • At your best in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
  • A good listener, facilitator, coach and negotiator
  • Able to understand the perspectives of the different stakeholders involved in software development
  • Strong understanding of Agile and related methodologies
  • University degree or equivalent

Desired qualifications:

  • Familiarity with task management software such as Jira
  • Experience as a software engineer
  • Experience working with researchers
  • Knowledge or commercial experience of Machine Learning

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom. Candidates must be authorised to work in the UK.
